Here’s a comparison between Allah’s commands and our present condition:
Allah’s Command: Hold firmly to the rope of Allah (Tawheed) and do not be divided. (Surah Aal Imran: 103)
Current Reality: We abandoned the rope of Allah long ago.
We are divided in every possible way—geographically into 57 states, theologically into hundreds of sects, jurisprudentially into various schools, spiritually into numerous Sufi orders, and politically into thousands of parties and ideologies. We continue to argue, debate, and fight over petty matters, causing further divisions.
Allah’s Command: Abandon interest (riba); not doing so is a declaration of war against Allah and His Messenger. (Surah Baqarah: 278–279)
Current Reality: We did not abandon riba. Instead, we’ve embraced the interest-based financial systems of the West. Our national economies run on interest, and every year our leaders allocate huge amounts for paying interest in the national budgets.
Allah’s Command: Tawheed—accept Allah alone as the sole Ilah (lawgiver, sovereign). Those who do not are warned of Hellfire.
Current Reality: Despite proclaiming La ilaha illallah, 1.6 billion Muslims have accepted Western ideologies as authority in practice. Our political, social, economic, and legal systems run on man-made ideologies like monarchy, democracy, socialism, and dictatorship—each giving sovereignty to humans, not Allah.
Allah’s Command: Fighting (Qitaal) is ordained for the believers. (Surah Baqarah: 216)
Current Reality: We abandoned Jihad 1300 years ago. The Khilafah devolved into a monarchy, wars became tools of empire-building, rulers indulged in luxury, scholars focused only on abstract theology, and Sufis pursued spiritual seclusion.
As Allah warned, attacks began—Crusades, Mongols, and finally colonialism. Though superficially free today, the struggle to establish Deen remains absent.
Allah’s Command: Earning money through religion is forbidden. Those who do are warned of Hell. (Surah Baqarah: 174; Surah Yasin: 21)
Current Reality: Many religious leaders earn from religion despite Qur’anic prohibitions. They hide verses that forbid this, and justify it through interpretations like Ijma or context-based necessity.
Allah’s Command: Believers must lower their gaze and guard their private parts. (Surah Nur: 30–31)
Current Reality: Under the influence of godless Western culture and hedonism, obscenity has reached alarming levels—even among Muslims. Sins like adultery, rape, child abuse, and pornography are widespread.
Allah’s Command: Believers must have one undisputed leader (Imam) to lead the Ummah, and obey him. (Surah Nisa: 59; Surah Bani Israil: 71)
Current Reality: We are divided into many nations, sects, and parties, with no central leadership. Everyone follows their own leader.Chaos prevails across the Muslim world.
Allah’s Command: Implement the Deen fully in every aspect of life. (Surah Anfal: 39–40; Surah Baqarah: 85)
Current Reality: We only practice the personal and spiritual aspects of Islam, ignoring political, legal, educational, and economic teachings, which have been replaced with Western systems.
Allah’s Command: Refer all disputes back to Allah and His Messenger; avoid internal quarrels. (Surah Nisa: 59)
Current Reality: Our religious leaders frequently disagree—even on minor matters—and institutionalize debates and public disputes, often escalating into hostility and division.
Allah’s Command: Do not be excessive in religion; such extremism leads to misguidance. (Surah Nisa: 171; Surah Maidah: 77)
Current Reality: Since abandoning Jihad, Muslims have become obsessed with excessive details in religious rulings, creating disagreement and fragmentation.
Allah’s Command: Avoid backbiting; it’s like eating the flesh of your dead brother. (Surah Hujurat: 12)
Current Reality: Backbiting is rampant, even institutionalized in politics. Political systems encourage opposition parties to constantly criticize the ruling party, often descending into slander.
Allah’s Command: Those who do not rule by what Allah has revealed are disbelievers, oppressors, and rebels. (Surah Maidah: 44, 45, 47)
Current Reality: After colonialism, most Muslim countries retained Western legal systems. The Qur’anic laws remain rejected in practice.
Allah’s Command: The Prophet was sent so that Islam may triumph over all other systems. (Surah Fath: 28; Surah Tawbah: 33; Surah Saff: 9)
Current Reality: Today, Western systems dominate globally, and even Muslims have embraced them instead of striving to establish Islam over them.
Allah’s Command: Do not contradict your words with your actions. (Surah Furqan: 224–227)
Current Reality: We proclaim La ilaha illallah, but accept the laws of the West. We call ourselves Muslims, but live by non-Islamic ideologies.
Allah’s Command: Fight until there is no more oppression (fitnah). (Surah Anfal: 39)
Current Reality: Islam has been reduced to personal rituals; Muslims pray, fast, and perform Hajj but remain silent about global oppression and injustice, unlike the Prophet’s companions, who bore wounds of battle.
Allah’s Command: O Children of Adam, wear your adornment at every prayer, eat and drink but do not be excessive. (Surah A’raf: 31)
Current Reality: In the Prophet’s time, both men and women attended mosques. Today, many scholars deny women this right, issuing fatwas that ban them from public prayer spaces and social life.
Allah’s Command: You are the best nation sent for mankind—to enjoin good and forbid evil. (Surah Imran: 110)
Current Reality: We’ve lost the moral authority to do so. We’re the ones suffering from oppression, fleeing homes, seeking shelter in the very nations that colonized us.
Allah’s Command: Both men and women have designated shares in inheritance. (Surah Nisa: 7, 11)
Current Reality: In most cases, women are denied their rightful shares, contrary to Qur’anic law.
Allah’s Command: Do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly. (Surah Baqarah: 188)
Current Reality: Corruption, bribery, land grabbing, and embezzlement are rampant in our societies.
Allah’s Command: The groom must pay the bride’s dowry (mahr); dowry demands from the bride’s side are forbidden. (Surah Nisa: 4)
Current Reality: Dowries are still demanded from brides, and even when large mahr amounts are declared, they are rarely paid.
